Let's talk about developing a progress mindset vs an all or nothing mindset...
Firstly, changing beliefs and recreating the narratives that we tell ourselves into ones that are beneficial, not only takes time, but we have to establish that our behaviours stem from our beliefs. Remember, someone has helped us to create those beliefs: our culture, our mum and dad, our environment where we grew up, our education and more all helped to cultivate our beliefs.
Now that we have brought a little awareness to that, here are 5 ways to develop a progress mindset:
Taking it slow - if you want to develop a progress mindset, take it slow!
Celebrate the small wins - this will help keep you motivated and will help remind you that you are moving forward and making progress, even if this is made up of lots of small steps, changes and wins.
Do it imperfectly - there’s so much to be said about doing things imperfectly and enjoying the process.
Progress is not linear - it will not be perfect, and it will not be the same all the time. We have to have failings in order to progress, those failings are what help define us.
Accept and embrace failure as learning lessons - this ensures we keep moving forward, learning, and therefore making progress.
Have a go at implementing these habits daily, I hope this helps you to work towards creating a progress mindset!
