Don’t get sucked into the fitness industry toxicity

here's the ways that the fitness industry is toxic in January

I’ve said it before, but it’s January- so I feel compelled to say it again for those that are going to get sucked into the fitness industry toxicity that is rife at this time of the year…

✗ You don’t need a diet to ‘fix your body’
✓ You need a better relationship with your self, your habits, beliefs, behaviours and your thoughts and actions.

✗ You don’t need highly restrictive calorie allowances to lose fat. Anyone recommending 1200 kcals goes into the bin!
✓ You do need a calorie deficit (if you want to lose weight), but it shouldn’t come at the cost of your mental well-being and it has to be sustainable LONGTERM. Ask yourself, can you do this eating style for the rest of your life? If the answer is no - then bin it.

✗ You do not need a damn detox or sugar cleanse. Restricting whole food groups perpetuates the narrative that certain foods are ‘bad’ and it just isn’t true. All foods are part of a balanced and healthy diet. IN MODERATION. Your kidneys and liver detox your body naturally. You don’t need a detox, you just need better behaviours all year round.
✓ A balanced and inclusive diet that allows you to enjoy all the foods. Aim for 60/70% of your foods being more nutrient dense and in line with your health goals and the other 30/40% being more calorie dense and deliciously tasty and in line with you staying sane, normal and happy. Donuts do actually help you feel good and are part of a healthy diet. Anyone who says otherwise also goes in the bin!

✗ You don’t need pills, magic elixirs or waist trainers or any other crap someone is selling you online. For the love cake, you do not need a detox tea!
✓ If you’re going to dabble in supplements, my top tip is to use protein powder and/or creatinine powder. Both backed by science and actually work.

Take some time to reflect on the above... if you have been sucked into the toxicity of the fitness industry, particularly at this time of year, use the advice above to shift this into positive, healthy and sustainable habits for all year round💜
